AdSense acts to ensure conversion validity

Google's AdSense service has taken steps to ensure the validity of conversions generated by referral ads, the company has stated.

Writing on the Inside AdSense blog, Eva Woo from the service's product marketing division explained that a validation period has commenced through which Google will attempt to ensure the sustainable effectiveness of the referral system in the long-term.

The system is to place an initial restriction on referral earnings for adverts for non-Google products while it monitors click and conversion data in an attempt to determine its authenticity.

Ms Woo added that once the validation period has ended publishers are to begin earning the maximum value of the conversions.

However, she stated that the duration of the validation has not been determined, although the company "will make every effort to ensure that it's as speedy as possible".

And as the period will depend on the activity of publishers on an individual basis, the majority of publishers will be "minimally affected", she wrote.

Meanwhile, it was recently revealed on the blog that AdSense publishers can now display YouTube videos in ad units of the right dimensions.
